Spartanburg Methodist has Great Showing at Niagara County Community College
Spartanburg Methodist wrestling team competed in two dual meets and a tournament this past weekend in Sanborn, NY. SMC went 1-1 in the dual meets on Friday night beating the #25 ranked NJCAA team Mercyhurst NE 23-21 and loses to the #13 ranked NJCAA Team Niagara County Community College 38-9.
In the Thunderwolves Open that took place all day Saturday, the Pioneers placed 5 wrestlers out of 8 that competed in the tournament. 149lber Aaron Fountain coming off an injury placed 2nd in the tournament losing to Muskegons Dren Batrum by Fall in the finals. 133lber Tramon Jenkins keeps his success streak going with a 3rd place finish with his only loss coming to an unattached wrestler from University of Buffalo. Tramon now has a 15-8 record with 9 falls on the year which is on top of the NJCAA leaderboards. 174lber Caleb Spears finished in 3rd place putting his record now at 17-9. Andrew Wade builds on his now 19-9 record placing 3rd at 285lbs. Lastly, 184lber Evan Makupson capped off the day placing 5th place.
