Women's Basketball Heads into Winter Break 7-4 Overall

Spartanburg, S.C. – The lady pioneers are looking good this season with a 7-4 overall record and undefeated in the conference going into the winter break. The record going into break will either be 7-5 or 8-4 depending on Fridays game at Roane State.

Sophomore Deja Marshall is leading the pack averaging 15.3 points per game. Some game highs for Marshall were against Milligan College JV scoring 28 points and Cape Fear Community College scoring 27 points. Along with the 28 and 27 high scoring games Marshal also adds three 17 point games.

Deja is leading SMC in almost every statistical category

3-point PCT – 41.9 which was ranked nationally

Rebounds per game – 6.4

Steals per game – 3.0

Not falling far behind Deja is sophomore transfer Dalton Gossett. Dalton transferred to SMC this fall from the University of Tennessee and is playing both softball and basketball. Gossett averages 13 points per game. Some of Gossett's game highs were Puerto Rico @ Bayamon scoring 20, Brunswick Community College scoring 18, and Belmont Abbey JV scoring 17.
