De'ja Marshall Third Team All-American

De'ja Marshall has done great things for the SMC Lady Pioneers basketball program. As we sat down with De'ja, she didn't want to take the credit for the awards she has received and all her accomplishments. All she spoke of was her teammates and Coach Clark and that alone should tell you about the player De'ja Marshall is.

"I couldn't have been successful without my team. My teammates and Coach Clark put their trust in me. The environment here at SMC sas helped, also. I never expected all this to happen but my family always told me to put god first and success comes."

Spartanburg Methodist is well known for their student-athletes, so when asked, De'ja said "SMC helped prep her in the classroom and on the court. Coach Clark, the head Women's Basketball Coach, helped develop her and pushed her out of her comfort zone. Coach Clark was a huge impact on me and my career here at SMC."

De'ja, in her two years on the Women's basketball team, has won multiple awards from All-region, Region Player of the Year, to Third Team All-American. De'ja give all the credit to her teammates for pushing her in practice and putting their faith in her. If she could she would hand all the awards to them. "I believe there is a structure behind it all and all her teammates' hard work has not gone unnoticed."

De'ja had quite a bit of options to continue her career at a four year program and she has made her final decision to attend Francis Marion next fall!

"I love and appreciate everyone at SMC. SMC has become a very special place and I am thankful from the bottom of my heart. None of this would have been possible without SMC, my teammates, and Coach Clark."
