Head Wrestling Coach Matt Oliver serves as Presenter for the Wrestling Awards at the HSSR All State Banquet
Coach Oliver served as the Presenter of the All-State Wrestling Awards for this year's High School Sports Report Banquet held this past Sunday at Seawells in Columbia. The HSSR Banquet honored over 800 Student Athletes all across the state which represented men's and women's basketball, wrestling and bowling. The event was headlined by Keynote speaker Earl Grant, Head Basketball Coach for the College of Charleston.
Coach Oliver is coming off one of his best finishes at SMC, finishing inside the top 20 as a team with 1 NJCAA All-American, Tramon Jenkins from (Beaufort, SC) and 2 NWCA All-Academic team members, Tramone Jenkins (Beaufort, SC) and Brandon Harris (Greensboro, NC). Oliver, in just his third year as head coach was voted by his peers Coach of the year for the North East District II Championships.
The SMC Wrestling team is looking to improve on their finish this year by returning 5 of their national qualifiers which includes All-American Tramon Jenkins (8th Place). 19 out of the 26.5 team points scored at the NJCAA National Wrestling Championships are returning for the fall with a combined record of 115-61 between all 5 wrestlers.
