Women's Soccer Set to Open up the Season with Georgia Military

The women's soccer team will open the season against Georgia Military College on Friday August 24th.  The Lady Pioneers are looking forward to another competitive season.  They have four games this year against team that were ranked in the Top 20 of the NJCAA at one point last season.  The women's soccer team finished 17th in the Nation in the United Soccer Coaches Poll last year.  Returning players from that team are First Team All-Region players forward Cailyn Marietti (18 goals and 12 assist) from Charleston, SC and midfielder Moran Vega (11 goals and 8 assist) from Summerville, SC.  Returning Second Team All-Region players Goalkeeper Jennifer Byrd (13 Shutouts)  from Boiling Springs SC, Defender Jackie Marshal from Greer, SC and forward Elizabeth McGee (9 goals and 10 assists) from Gadson, SC.  Other sophomores who can make an impact are Elizabeth Temple Brionnna Mack and Caroline Altman. Coach Kenneally believes there is a strong freshman class coming this season.  The class includes goalies (Meredith Mitchiner (Spring, Texas) Isabella Dyckes (Fort Mill, SC) Gabby Griner (Swansea, SC).  Midfielders Kassandra Young 9 (Greer, SC), Kajsa Mertens (Travelers Rest, SC). Forwards Adahi Alacorn (Greenville, SC) and Kolbi Crone (Fort Dorchester, SC) Defenders Mackenzie Ramsey (Kings Moutain, SC) and Emely Gualajara (Greenville, SC)
