Women's Soccer Shutout Wake Tech Community College
Spartanburg, SC | The Lady Pioneers win in a home against Wake Tech Community College Rout (Raleigh, NC). The final score of the game was 4-0 in favor of SMC. Spartanburg Methodist Pioneers got off to a slow start in the first half missing several opportunities, with the score at the end of the first half being tied at zero. After a great half time speech from Head Coach Dan Kenneally, The Lady Pioneers came out strong in the second half, scoring twice in the first eight minutes. SMC followed that up with two more goals later in the half.
Sophomore forward Cailyn Marietti (West Ashley, SC) scored in the 46th minute with a great flick of a cross from sophomore defender Jackie Marshall (Greer, SC). In the 49th sophomore forward Elizabeth McGee (Gaston, SC) scored on an assist from Marietti. In the 24th minute freshman forward Adahi Alarcon (Piedmont, SC) scored on an assist from McGee. McGee scored the last goal in 77th minute when Alarcon returned the favor and assisted her on the goal. Freshman Goalkeeper Meredith Mitchiner (Spring, TX) and Sophomore goalkeeper Jenifer Byrd (Boiling Springs, SC) combined for the shutout.
