Pioneers Sweep USC-Lancaster

SMC volleyball played USC-Lancaster Tuesday evening at home in Bridges Arena. It was a clean sweep with scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-9.

Claudia Casey led the team with 9 kills hitting .571. Quinna White did a great job adding 8 kills and Asya Louden hit .375.

Alisabeth Kneece entered the match and brought a lot of energy to the court. Molly Mather led the team in blocking. Getting her feet set and being a vocal leader on the court. She pumped everybody up anytime there was an opportunity to encourage others.

Anne Martin held down the serve receive, passing over a 2.2 which allowed the Pioneers to run their offense at a high rate. Leslie Williams helped, adding 19 digs. Setter Savannah Ducote served 4 aces, her highest aces in a match.

Two players on the team received all-tournament honors at the Catawba Valley Invitational this past weekend. Aeyane Mattress did a great job scoring offensively and was consistent with her passing all weekend. Leslie Williams also received honors, averaging over 5 digs per set which took her to number 7 in the country in digs per set with 5.57.

SMC volleyball travels to Wallace State this weekend to take on Catawba Valley, Vincennes, Wallace State, and Monroe.
