Lady Pioneers Win 7-1 Against USC-Salkehatchie
Spartanburg, SC – The #16 ranked Lady Pioneers win on Sophomore Day against USC Salkehatchie via 7-1 victory. It was the last home game for the regular season. The Lady Pioneers open the game scoring in the 3rd minute on a goal by Forward, Adahi Alarcon (Piedmont, SC) who was assisted by midfielder, Morgan Vega (Summerville, SC). USC Salkehatchie tied up the game 10 minutes later with a goal of their own.
In the 24th minute SMC started to build on their scoring. Forward, Elizabeth McGee (Gaston, SC) scored on an assist by midfielder Kass Young (Greer, SC). Midfielder Morgan Vega (Summerville, SC) scored in the 30th minute on an assist from McGee. Finishing the scoring in the first half was forward, Cailyn Marietti (Charleston, SC) in the 31st minute on an assist from McGee.
Elizabeth McGee open the scoring in the 5th minute of the second half assisted by forward Brianna Mack (Swansea, SC). In the 74th minute midfielder Heather Turner (Gaston, SC) scored on a corner kick served by forward Caroline Altman (Spartanburg, SC). The final goal was scored in the 79h minute by forward Nathalie Stark (Boiling Springs, SC) assisted by Turner.
The win moves the Lady Pioneers to 12-2-1. With 104 goals score on the year the Pioneers sit in the top 3 for most goals on the year. They are ranked 16th in the Nation with a 12-2-1 record losing to only (#14) Cape Fear and Georgia Military.
SMC will look to get revenge on that earlier lose to (#14) Cape Fear Community College today October 17, 2018 in Wilmington, NC! Game will start at 5:00pm
