Men's Soccer Advance to NJCAA Southeast Division Tournament
The Spartanburg Methodist College Men's Soccer Team competed over the weekend at the Region X Conference tournament in Allendale, SC on the campus of USC-Salkehactie. The Pioneers defeated Richard Bland in the semifinals on Saturday 2-1. Freshman leading goal scorer Jakari Davis got the ball rolling for the Pioneers with an early goal assisted by Freshman Theo Wichmann. Richard Bland College would battle back to tie up the contest early in second half. However, Sophomore Donovan Branch would provide the game winner for the Pioneers towards the end of the second half off of a cross from Sophomore Ahmed Abdalla.
The Pioneers advanced to the NJCAA Region X finals on Sunday against Louisburg College. After conceding two second half goals the Pioneers couldn't find the spark needed to overcome the Hurricanes on the day with the game ending 2-0.
With the loss the Pioneers will still advance to the NJCAA Southeast Division Tournament hosted on the campus of Georgia College and State University. The Pioneers will take on #1 Georgia Military College on November 2 at 1:00pm. The final will be played on November 3 at 2:30pm.
