SMC Wrestling Ranked 6th in National Rankings
SMC Wrestling starts off the season ranked tied for 6th in the country with 4 different wrestlers ranked in their perspective weight classes: 125lbs Tramon Jenkins, 141lbs Brandon Harris, 165lbs Caleb Spears, & 285lbs Andrew Wade.
Returning All-American Tramon Jenkins (Beaufort, SC) is down a weight at 125lbs this year and is starting off the year ranked 3rd at 125. Tramon is coming off of a 1st place finish at the Patriot Open.
National Qualifier Brandon Harris (Greensboro, NC) will be at 141lbs for the Pioneers and will start off ranked 7th in the rankings. Brandon is returning to SMC after only losing 5 matches during the 2011-2018 season.
165lber and 2017 National Qualifier Caleb Spears (Rutherfordton, NC) is currently ranked 5th in the nation. Caleb just placed 3rd at the Patriot Open and started his sophomore year off with a 5-1 record with a win over the #15 ranked wrestling in NAIA, Cameron Simmons of Marion University.
Heavyweight Andrew Wade (Cambridge, MD) is currently ranked 7th in the country. Andrew comes off his freshman year campaign with a 23-19 overall record.
Other Notable wrestlers currently unranked: 133lber Tramone Jenkins made it to the round of 12 at the 2018 National Championships and started the 2018-2019 season off with a 5-1 record. 184lber Camden Johnson just finished off his first collegiate tournament finishing 4-1 before having to medically withdraw from the tournament.
The Pioneers continue their season as they wrestle Truett McConnell University next on Thursday, November 8th at 7pm and then again on Sunday, November 11th as they travel to Lumberton, NC to wrestle at the UNCP Braves Open.
