Pioneers Place 5 Wrestlers at UNC Pembroke Classic

Pembroke, NC – The SMC wrestling team traveled to UNCP for the Pembroke Classic this past Sunday. The Pioneers put 5 on the podium with 133lber Tramone Jenkins (Beaufort, SC) leading the way placing 2^nd in his weight class. Also placing for the Pioneers were 125lber Tramon Jenkins (Beaufort, SC), 149lber Brandon Harris (Greensboro, NC), 174lber Caleb Spears (Rutherfordton, NC), and 184lber Camden Johnson.

133lbs Tramone Jenkins, went 3-1 in route to his 2^nd place finish. Tramone was stopped by NCAA DI qualifier, Oklahoma State transfer and current UNC wrestler Gary Wayne Harding in the final bout. Tramone improves his record to 10-2 overall. 125lber Tramon Jenkins got stopped by unattached wrestler from UNC, who went on to win the tournament. Tramon wrestled his way back to the consolation semifinals where he was yet again met a NCAA Division I wrestler Unattached from NC State. Tramon finished the day 3-2 and improves his overall record to 11-2 with his only 2 losses to NCAA DI wrestlers. At 149lbs Brandon Harris placed 6^th place in the tournament with 3 losses to NCAA DI wrestlers, two from Campbell and one from NC State. At 174lbs Caleb Spears fought his way back to take 5^th place losing to Clay Lautt of UNC and Barrett Blakely of App State. Calebs record is now set at 10-3 overall. At 184lbs freshman Camden Johnson took 6^th place going 2-2 before medical forfeiting out on the day. Camdens overall record is 7-4.

The Pioneers continue their season next Saturday November 18^th as they travel to NCAA Division II program, Emmanuel College for the Annual Georgia Collegiate Open.
