Westgate is just one of a variety of shopping destinations found nearby.Our campus is just minutes from downtown Spartanburg, a beautiful city with a population of 40,000. Whether you have a taste for Chinese food or a serious craving for pepperoni pizza, you'll have plenty of restaurants to satisfy your appetite. Spartanburg is home to the world famous Beacon Drive-In. The Beacon is in a league of its own, and soon you'll be wondering how you ever survived without it. In addition to fine dining options, you have plenty of options to catch the latest movie or get together at a local coffee house.

For concerts and musical entertainment, Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium hosts big name acts and Broadway shows and the new Barnett Park Amphitheater is a great place to sit under the stars and listen to all forms of music. The recently opened Chapman Cultural Center also boasts several outlets to satiate your cultural appetite. Numerous festivals are held throughout the year in downtown Spartanburg so you'll never be at a loss for entertainment.

There you will see the best of the past blended with the future when you walk down a vibrant Main Street or through the revitalized West End. Both are filled with unique dining, shopping and entertainment options. Be sure to check out the BI-LO Center, one of the top-rated entertainment venues in the United States and host to a wide-range of today's most popular musical artists. The Bi-Lo Center is also home to the Greenville Force arena football team -- and in Fall 2010, ECHL hockey returns to the ice in Greenville with a brand new team the Greenville Road Warriors.

Or enjoy the Great American Pasttime at Fluor Field at West End, home of the Greenville Drive, a Class A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox.

If you're into the outdoors, SMC is the perfect choice. We're located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains so it's easy to fill up free time with hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing or mountain biking. Recreational snow skiing is a big student activity within the winter months and the college even offers a snow skiing course during the month of January.

On the other end of the spectrum, South Carolina's finest beaches are just a few hours away by car.Imagine having all of nature's grandeur all within close proximity to your college campus.
