Lakehawks Record 10th Win of the Season at Viking Invite

PALATKA, Fla. (Volleyball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) volleyball team traveled to Palatka, Fla. over the weekend to compete in the Viking Invitational hosted by St. Johns River State College (SJRSC). The Lakehawks fell to Spartanburg, 3-0, on Saturday and split Sunday with a 3-0 loss against Monroe and 3-0 win over Lurleen.

Lake-Sumter 0, Spartanburg Methodist 3 (17-25, 20-25, 21-25)

The Lakehawks faced Spartanburg Methodist for their first match of the weekend.

Over three sets, outside hitter Yarelis Lopez Osorio recorded 10 kills with 12 digs and one service ace.

Alanys Rodriguez Lozada had 19 asssists with three digs. Jayden Ponsford added 12 digs.

Lake-Sumter 0, Monroe 3 (21-25, 15-25, 18-25)

Although Sunday morning's game did not end in favor of the Lakehawks, the team played well posting 30 kills and 53 digs over three sets.

Kaylee Hunt and Rodriguez Lozada both registered double-doubles. Hunt with 10 kills and 12 digs, Rodriuguez Lozada with 24 assists and 10 digs.

Lake-Sumter 3, Lurleen 0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-14)

LSSC recorded their 10th win of the season against Lurleen on game three of the weekend. The team capitalized on the court both offensively and defensively posting 39 kills, 66 digs, 10 service aces and 37 assists.

Hunt had another big game recording 12 kills with 15 digs and added four service aces. Ponsford followed with 10 kills, 19 digs and three service aces.

Allie Cox added 10 kills and two digs while Saniaa Dickey had 14 digs with one service ace.

The Lakehawks move to 10-14 overall and 3-9 in conference play on the season as they approach the last week of regular season play.

The Lakehawk volleyball team will travel to Palatka, Fla. on Tuesday, Oct. 25 to face SJRSC for their final regular season and Sun-Lakes Conference matchup of the season.
