Red Hawks Baseball gets on top of Spartanburg Methodist early but can't hang on in 5-4 loss

CVCC Red hawks built an early edge on Saturday, but Spartanburg Methodist roared back to steal a 5-4 victory at Hinkle Alley Field in Hickory, NC.

Spartanburg Methodist took the lead in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Dominique Jackson.

Ivan Acuna had a hot bat for the Red Hawks. Acuna went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning.

The bottom of the first saw the Red Hawks take an early lead, 2-0. A double by Acuna, plating Seth Hubbard started the inning off. CVCC added more runs when Acuna scored on an RBI single by Lou Matarazzo.

Spartanburg Methodist pushed across two runs in both the third inning and the seventh. In the third, Spartanburg Methodist scored on an error, bringing home Seth Wall.

The game's last lead went to Spartanburg Methodist thanks to a seventh inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on two singles.
