The Emory Oxford men's soccer team had their second home game of the season against NJCAA Division I foe, Spartanburg Methodist College. The Eagles fell 5-1 against the Pioneers.
The lone goal for Emory Oxford was scored by sophomore Ryan Scholte, who scored off a penalty kick in the second half.
The game opened with an early goal by the Pioneers in the 4th minute, when Vashone Aceves scored off a pass from his teammate. The rest of the half was a deadlock, as neither team would score and the Eagles would go into the break down one goal.
In the second half, the Eagles drew a foul in the penalty box, resulting in Scholte's third goal of the year. However, Spartanburg Methodist would score four unanswered to win 5-1.
The Eagles will hit the road this Saturday, September 17, as they play Andrew College. Kickoff will be a 1:00 PM.
