Monteiro Leads In Region 10 Quarterfinal Loss

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College of William and Mary Men's Basketball team finished the season 11-17 overall after the loss to Spartanburg Methodist College in the Region 10 Quarterfinal contest Tuesday evening.

Trailing by a short margin at half, 29-25, the Pioneers slowly pulled away to victory, outscoring the Statesmen 53-40 in the second half.

Lance Monteiro was dominant for the Statesmen leading the way offensively with 24 points, including 12 from the perimeter, and chipped in with 4 rebounds. D'Shun Edwards had 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals for Richard Bland. Kelby Saunders Jr. led the boards with 8 and scored 6 points.

Spartanburg Methodist College moves on to play #2 Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in the Region 10 Semifinals on Thursday, March 3^rd.

In 25 games played, Lance Monteiro led all scoring with 333 total points. Monteiro was credited with 129 total rebounds, 54 assists, and 35 steals. Kelby Saunders Jr. finished the season leading in rebounds with179 total. Saunders Jr. scored 218 points, 27 assists, and led overall with 36 steals.
