Women’s Volleyball Goes Undefeated At Catawba Invitational

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College women's volleyball team moves to 20-2 overall after traveling to Catawba Valley Community College for the Catawba Valley Invitational this weekend.

 

On Friday, the Statesmen defeated the Red Hawks 3-0 with set scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-11. Leilani Goggin led the attack with 13 kills through three sets, followed by Sarah Heath and Hailey Hopkins with 11 apiece. Heath also added 10 digs. Karagyn Durco had four service aces and assisted on 43 occasions. Sophia Kaiser chipped in with 14 digs in the win.

 

In their first match Saturday afternoon, the Statesmen took down Spartanburg 3-1 with set scores of 25-14, 22-25, 25-23 and 25-22. Sarah Heath and Hailey Hopkins led the attack with 13 kills apiece. Leilani Goggin added 11 in the win. Heath and Goggin also added one block each. Karagyn Durco had 45 assists and four service aces for Richard Bland. Rylie Harris and Sophia Kaiser chipped in with 17 and 11 digs.

 

In the final match of the tournament, the Statesmen defeated Catawba for the second time, 3-0, with set scores of 25-16, 25-21 and 25-8. Goggin, Hopkins, and Heath had 12 kills each in the win. Heath added four service aces while Durco chipped in with 44 assists and five digs. Rylie Harris had 14 digs followed by Heath with 13. Jadyn Brown added one block in the victory for Richard Bland.

 

The Richard Bland women's volleyball team next travels to Bryant & Stratton (VA) on Wednesday, October 12th for a 6pm conference match.
