Lady Pioneers Beach Volleyball Finish 1-1 to End Regular Season

The SMC beach volleyball team finished their regular season at Region 10 foe, Sandhills Community College with a double header against SCC and Liberty University. 
 
In the first matchup of the day, starting down 0-2, the Lady Pioneers had no other option than to come out fighting hard.
 
Pair #3 Delaney Castro and Mya Johnson were the first to complete their match, finishing 21-15 and 21-6.
 
To follow, pair #2 Hana Vucinic and Bailey Beck finished business ending 21-19 and 21-13.
 
Pair #1 Kendall Meinders and Brantlie Price were the last to compete. In the first set, Meinders and Price finished on top at 21-16. In set 2 however, Meinders and Price found themselves down by four points, 15-19, before creeping back up from a service run from Meinders and a set of kills by Price. With the score 19-19, SCC took a timeout, then resumed play. With a kill by Price to make the score 20-19, the last point scored was by Meinders with a kill to end the match 21-19. 
 
The Lady Pioneers faced Liberty University for their second matchup of the day. Despite their best efforts, SMC faced many challenges, with pairs 1-3 falling in two sets. 
 
Up next, the Lady Pioneers will face Wake Tech in the first round of the Region 10 Beach Volleyball Tournament on Saturday 4/20, hosted by Gaston College. The Region 10 receives 3 bids to the NJCAA Beach National Tournament in Huntsville, Alabama May 2nd-May 4th.
