Dylan Rogers, Shell McCain lead Pioneers in 7-2 win

A return trip to the NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado is now one win away from the Pioneer baseball team after their 7-2 win over ASA College (NY) today in the second round of the Eastern District Championship. SMC will now sit back and wait to see who advances out of the loser bracket this afternoon. The Pioneers will take on the winner tomorrow at 11:00am. 

SMC rode the right arms of Dylan Rogers (6.2ip- 8k's) and Brandon Landrie (2.1ip) and got balanced offensive contribution from the entire lineup led by Shell McCain (3B,3 rbi, 2sb).

SMC scored first on a Reid Moman sac fly that scored Wesley Rogers in the third inning. W. Rogers drove in Domineke Albert in the fourth on a sac fly to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead. ASA cut the lead in half in the bottom of the fouth to make it 2-1. McCain tripled in the fifth to drive in Reid Moman (3 runs) and Elliott Caldwell to make it 5-2 SMC. Landrie took over for Rogers in the bottom of the seventh with two on and two out. Landrie got a fly ball to center field to end the inning. SMC added two big insurance runs in the ninth with Moman and Caldwell touching home and McCain collecting his third rbi on the day. 

Lucky 7's for the Pioneers today. SMC collected scored seven runs on seven hits and stole seven bases on the day!
