Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning against Columbia State CC, Sophomore Matt White (Summerville, SC) stepped to the plate and quickly erased the defecit with a bases clearing double. White was 2-3 with 3 rbi. USC Gamecock signee Collin Steagall (Lexington, SC) dropped a two run bomb to secure the Pioneer win.
Jordan Garrett (Chesnee, SC) (1-4) and Zach Sheilds (Florence, SC) (2-2) helped lead the Pioneer offense while Matt Riggs earned the win with 6 IP, 2 ER, and 7 strikeouts. Cole Norwood (Darlington, SC) picked up the save while working three innings and only giving up one hit.
SMC (6-0) will face John A Logan on Saturday afternoon and host Southern Union on Sunday.
