Baseball sweeps Surry CC in finale

Dobson, NC- In their final tune up before the 2015 Region X Tournament, the Pioneers looked sharp, pounding out 21 hits and only allowed two runs.  SMC won game one 10-1 and 2-1 in game two. 

 

GAME ONE- Tyler Kimbrell went the distance to earn the win in game one, he struck out 10, walked one and only allowed four hits. Dallas Betsill (2-3, HR, 2rbi, 2r) and Dominnique Jackson (3-4), 2-2B, 2r) led the Pioneers at the plate.  A five run third inning keyed the offensive outburst for SMC. 

 

GAME TWO- The Pioneers completed the sweep with a 2-1 win in eight innings. Starter CD Pelham had a solid outing, he struck out six, walked four, and allowed one hit in four innings. Zach Mosay earned the win working four scoreless innings allowing only two hits. Brandon Hood went 2-3 with a home run, double, and a rbi. Betsill was 2-2 and reached base all three times. Jared McCay drove in the game winning run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the eight. 

 

SMC improves to 29-21 on the year and will now turn their attention to the Region X Tournament that will begin on Saturday in Burlington, NC. The Pioneers will face USC Lancaster in the opening round at 4:00pm.
