Baseball takes three from Sumter, move into first place

SPARTANBURG, SC., The Pioneers split Saturday's doubleheader vs. USC Sumter winning Game 1, 1-0, and coming up short in Game 2, 4-3. Nik Verbeke and Hunter Lomas combined to shutout the Fire Ants in the first game.

The Pioneers swept Sunday's doubleheader vs USC Sumter, 6-0 and 9-5, to win the series. SMC advances to 35-15 on the season and takes ahold the top spot in Region 10. Chapman came out strong in the first game throwing a complete game 1-hit shutout.
