SMC Baseball Splits at East Georgia State College

Swainsboro, GA – The Pioneer baseball team split this past weekend on the road at East Georgia State College. In game one they outscored EGSC 3-1, but in game two, they found themselves on the other end of a 3-0 loss.

In the first inning of game one, John Miller's RBI advancing a run in by Bradwin Salmond. Then in the top of the third inning Houston Wright doubled down the right field line to bring in a run scored by Joey Tepper. Also scoring a run for the Pioneers was Donald Hansis with a sacrifice fly to center which allowed John Miller to score. After a lone run that was scored by East Georgia, the Pioneers defeated EGSC 3-1. Pitching for the Pioneers was Jordan Jackson with 7 strikeouts and Chad Brown closing the game.

In game two, East Georgia held SMC to 6 hits to EGSC's 5 hits, however, SMC could not find a way to bat in any runs. Starting off the game for the Pioneers was Nate Lamb, who allowed 5 hits, 3 runs, and 2 walks. Bradley Hughes relieved Lamb to close the game out.

The Pioneers continue their season as they play at the Southern Union Invitational in Wadley, Alabama. Games start on the 15th at 4:00pm where they play Dyersburg State Community College.
