SMC Goes 1-2 at Southern Union Invitational

Wadley, AL – Baseball played in Wadley, Alabama this weekend for the Southern Union Invitational going 1-2. In the first game against Dyersburg State Community College, the Pioneers were held to zero until the 6th inning where they tried to make a comeback with a leadoff single from Jowers but it wasn't enough for the seven run lead by the Eagles. Andrew Krauss went 1 for 2 with 2 RBI's. SMC lost game one 10-5. The Pioneers turned it around for game two against Southern Union State, scoring two runs in the 1st inning. The Pioneers scored 4 out of the 7 innings played defeating the Bisons 6-4. Both Houston Wright and Andrew Krauss went 2 for 4 with a double. The final game for SMC against John A. Logan started out with the Pioneers ahead 3-0 until the 4th inning when the Vols scored on a wild pitch and a throwing error. The Vols went on to win the game 11-3. Sophomore Joey Tepper had his 1st homerun of the year.
