SMC moves to 18-0 with home win

#5 Spartanburg Methodist men's basketball improved to 18-0 with a 71-66 win against Brunswick CC. With the win, the Pioneers improve to 3-0 in Region X play. Ronell Crockett led the Pioneers with 21 points and 8 rebounds. Also in double figures for SMC were DJ Coleman (15 points) and Jalen Nesbitt (10 points). Nesbitt also added 8 rebounds.

SMC struggled shooting the ball most of the night. For the game the Pioneers shot just 34% from the field and finished the game 24-40 from the free throw line.

"I am very proud of the guys," said head coach Jeff Brookman. "We definitely did not have our best game shooting the basketball, but they found a way to grind out a win. Cory Rush was huge for us off the bench tonight."

The Pioneers are now 21-2 at Bridges Arena since the start of the 2011-2012 season. SMC returns to action on Thursday the 24th when they host USC Salkehatcie at 7:30.
