Former Men’s Basketball Standout Continues Professional Career

Former Spartanburg Methodist men's basketball standout Vernon Taylor has signed a contract to continue his professional career overseas in the top league in Bulgaria. Taylor, a 2009 graduate of SMC, spent two years at NCAA Division 1 member Troy University where he averaged 15.5 points per game during his senior season (2010-2011). Since completing his eligibility at Troy, Taylor has played professional basketball overseas for several different teams. This includes stops in Africa, Greece, Lebanon, Germany and Finland. During his 2012-2013 season in Finland, Taylor was named Guard of the Year after averaging 22 points per game. This season (2013-2014), Taylor will play for Rilski in the NBL (National Bulgarian League).
