Pioneers win in overtime 67-65
Spartanburg Methodist men's basketball improved to 13-6 with a 67-65 OT win against Region 10 member Brunswick CC.
Daquan Jeffries led the Pioneers with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Jeffries is coming off a 17 point 18 rebound effort in an OT loss at Caldwell CC.
Freshman Brannon Dark also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 Rebounds. Also in double figures was freshman Kaheem Praylow with 13 points. Freshman Jeremy Summers grabbed a career high 7 rebounds while TJ Sheppard added career highs with 9 assists and 9 rebounds.
With the win, the Pioneers move to 1-0 in Region 10 play. The Pioneers resume Region 10 play next Saturday on the road against USC-Salkahatchie.
Brunswick (10-9, 1-1) led by nine midway through the second half, but SMC steadily got closer even while missing so many 3-point shots. Finally, Motley made one with four minutes left to bring the Pioneers within in one point, 52-51. Dark had a tip-in to put SMC in front with 2:45 remaining in regulation.
Down three with 15.1 seconds left, SMC worked the ball to Sheppard in the corner, but he was trapped there and passed to Praylow, who knocked down the 3-pointer from the top of the key as he was being knocked down to the floor.
The Pioneers will take to the road next Saturday against USC Salkehatchie for a Region X matchup.
