Solid defensive effort leads Pioneers to 74-66 win

SPARTANBURG, SC- Pioneer Men's Basketball took on Walters State Community College in front of a packed Bridges Arena on Tuesday night. The Pioneers (3-0) jumped out to a double digit lead mid way through the first half behind solid defense and rebounding. Walters State hit back to back three pointers to cut the Pioneer lead to 35-31 at the break.  

SMC continued to play strong on the defensive end and went 17-26 from the charity stripe on the night. SMC put three players in double figures while nine Pioneers got in the scoring column in the 74-66 win.  Sophomore Nate Motley (Hampton, VA) led with 16 points while freshman Marquise Simuels (Columbia, SC) scored 15 and Warren Vinson (Rock Hill, SC) added 11. 

After a road trip to Walterboro, SC for two games this weekend in the Indian Classic, the Pioneers will return to Bridges Arena on November 12th to square off with Patrick Henry Community College at 7pm.
