Men's Basketball split at Northwest Florida Classic

NICEVILLE, Fl., The SMC Men's Basketball team traveled to Northwest Florida State College this weekend for the annual NWF Classicl. The Pioneers (7-3) dropped Friday's game to host NWF 87-79 and defeated Gulf Coast State College on Saturday 104-80.

TJ Sheppard (North Augusta, SC / North Augusta High )led the Pioneers in the loss with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Marquise Simuels added 15 points while Tre' Smith (Simpsonville, SC / Hillcrest High/Charleston Southern) finished with 14 points. Je'Quan Perry (Charleston, SC / Charleston Collegiate) and Daniel Bridges (Boiling Springs, SC / Landrum/USC Upstate) each added 9 points for SMC. 

SMC vs Gulf Coast State 104-80 

Marquise Simuels (Columbia, SC / AC Flora High) had a career night with 32 points and 12 rebounds in the Pioneer rout over Gulf Coast State. SMC led 58-33 at the half. TJ Sheppard (North Augusta, SC / North Augusta High) continued his strong play 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Je' Quan Perry added 11 points while Armani Hill (Rock Hill, SC / Northwestern High) finished with 10 points. 

SMC will return to action on Tuesday as they host Roane State Community College (4-4) at 7:00pm.
