SMC Men's Basketball Wins Region X Championship

Game 1 Region X Tournament

Pinehurst, NC - The Spartanburg Methodist College Men's Basketball team went on the road this past weekend to compete for a Region X Championship. 

In their first tournament game, SMC defeated Cape Fear Community College.  At the half SMC was up by eight points.   At the end of regulation SMC 93 and Cape Fear Community College 83.

Notables:

• SMC shot 78% from the FT line.
• SMC score 23 points off TO's
• Anthony Adger had 24 points, 6 assists and 4 rebounds
• Jonathan Sanks had 20 points
• JeQuan Perry scored 13 points to go with 9 rebounds
• Kwei Lartey had 10 points for the Pioneers

Game 2 Region X Championship

Pinehurst, NC - SMC played a tough Caldwell Community College team on Saturday for the Region X Championship.  Headed into the half SMC was up by just five points. 

With .3 of a second left in regulation, Jared Richardson made 1 of 2 FT's to give SMC the Lead.  Caldwell Community College threw up a last second shot that was no good and SMC came away with the Region X Championship by the score of 61-60.

Notables:

• SMC made 20 FT's
• Jonathan Sanks had 20 points
• Je'Quann Perry had 11 points
• SMC is 29-3 over all
• Average 95.5 PPG
• Streak – 7 in a row
• Anthony Adger leads SMC in scoring with 16.4 PPG
• Kwei Lartey leads SMC in rebounding with 6.1 RPG
• SMC is currently ranked #15 in the latest national poll
