Parks Leads SMC Men's Golf to Victory

Pioneers Men's Golf team claimed a victory at the Cavalier Spring Invitational hosted by Montreat College.

The Pioneers started the 2nd round tied for the lead at 315 with Brewton-Parker and finished strong with 310 to claim the victory by 12 shots over Truett-McConnell.  This is the 2nd team victory of the spring season for the Pioneers Men's Golf team.

Sophomore Hunter Parks led the Pioneers with rounds of 80-73 = 153 to claim 2nd place individually.  Not far behind was fellow sophomore Matthew Terry who fired 79-75 = 154 to claim 3rd place.  The field was led by James Tansley of Brewton-Parker who fired 75-77.

"I am really pleased with the team's performance this week.  It was tough conditions and a tough golf course but these boys grinded it out.  I am extremely proud of them," says Head Coach Arran Setro.  To round up the Pioneers, Caleb Brown nods a top 10 performance with 76-82 = 158.  Brandon Hill (80-80 = 160) and Jake Corn (80-82 = 162).  "Not only am I pleased with the team's performance, but I am even more impressed with these young men's positive attitude throughout the round," concluded Setro.
