Pioneers Shutdown Oxford Emory College

The SMC men’s soccer team traveled to Oxford Emory College on 9/15.

The first half was back and forth with each team feeling out the rainy conditions. The Pioneers scored first when Jacob Kadans found Youkendjy Pacius for the goal at 35:00. SMC would get a second goal of the game when Franchesco Molinar sent a booming goal kick over the defense to Youkendjy at 37:00. The first half ended at 2-0.

SMC came out in the second half with some momentum. Pacius would get the hat trick after making a few defenders miss and sliding the ball past the Eagles keeper at 55:00. Chris Castro is credited with the assist. The game got interesting after some Pioneer substitutes were made. Oxford Emory would get 2 goals in a ten-minute span to make the score 3-2. Each team had a few more chances on goal in the final minutes of the game.

The Pioneers held off the Eagles for the 3-2 victory. Franchesco would end with 3 saves.

SMC moves to 3-4 on the season.

The men travel to Richard Bland on 9/18.
