Pioneers Shutout at Home
The SMC Pioneers took on Richard Band College Statesman on Saturday, September 24th. This was the second meeting for the 2022 campaign with the first one being won by Richard Bland 2-0.
Both teams started out strong with Richard Bland seeing 8 shots, 4 on target, and SMC with 6 shots and 6 on target. Richard Bland had several corner kicks that they could not convert on which sent both teams into halftime tied 0-0.
In the second half, Richard Bland was awarded 2 penalty kicks where they converted on one of them to put the Statesman up 1-0. Unfortunately, the Pioneers could never recover from the 1-goal deficit ultimately losing for the second time this year to Richard Bland College.
SMC moves to 5-3 overall, 3-3 in Region 10, and sits in 4th place in Region 10. They travel to USC Union to play them for the second time this year on Tuesday 9/27 at 4 pm. USC Union currently sits in 5th place in Region 10.
