Pioneers Notch 1st Win in Region 10 Play
SMC Men’s Soccer played against USC Union after dropping two games in Region 10 play early in the 2022 campaign.
The first half saw an onslaught of shots with 8-5 in favor of SMC. SMC was first on the board in the 30th minute with a goal by Victor Capitillo. In the next 12 minutes SMC saw two goals netted by Patrick Callahan.
The second half started out a little slower for SMC, with a penalty kick called in favor for SMC taken by Patrick Callahan with a great save by Jacob Haney from USC Union. Within five minutes another penalty was called on the other said with a yellow card given to Francesco Molinar. Evan Vonner put a well-placed shot in the bottom corner to make the score 3-1.
Three more goals were scored by SMC in the second half scored by Victor Capitillo, Paul Likhtar and Gabe Moncada.
USC Union moves to 0-3-0 (0-2-0 in Region 10) while SMC moves to 2-2-0 (1-2-0 in Region 10) playing this Saturday against USC Salkehatchie at Nash Field 3pm.
