Men's Tennis Comes Up Short Over Weekend

SPARTANBURG - The SMC Pioneers men's tennis team struggled to put some points up against its competitors over the weekend and came home with two losses.

On Saturday, the Pioneers took a 0-8 loss to NJCAA Region 17 foe Georgia Perimeter College.

The Pioneers followed that up on Sunday with a 1-8 loss to NCAA Division II opponent Coker College.

Matheus Barcela, a freshman from Brazil, posted SMC's only win of the weekend on Sunday, with a 6-7, 6-3, 10-3 set.

Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
