21st ranked Men's Tennis sharp in NJCAA opener

SPARTANBURG, SC- SMC Men's tennis started their first weekend of NJCAA play with a win against #11 Harford Community College at home. SMC was led by Zac Dye who handed Murilo Basso his first loss of the season. Harry Reed won at #2 singles after defeating Sanches in a second set tiebreak. Mouhamed Gueye and Ben Hall lost close matches at 3 and 4 singles while Dalton Hendrix and Reynard Julien won in straight sets 5 and 6.

SMC also won #2 doubles (Gueye/Reed) and #3 doubles (Quick/Julien) while #1 doubles (Dye/Hendrix) lost a close match 8-6.

The #21 ranked Pioneers will face Oxford of Emory and #15 Gadsden State Saturday in Oxford, GA.

#1 Dye/Hendrix lost to Basso/Sanches  6-8 

#2 Reed/Gueye defeated Frantz/Rao 8-4 

#3 Quick/Julien defeated Stasak/Roman 8-2

#1 Dye defeated Basso 6-1, 6-2 

#2 Reed defeated Sanches 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) 

#3 Gueye lost to Frantz 6-3, 4-6 (8-10) 

#4 Ben Hall lost to Embid 3-6, 4-6 

#5 Dalton Hendrix defeated Rao 6-3, 6-4 

#6 Julien defeated Stasak 6-1, 6-3
