SMC Track and Field competes at CIU Invitational

Columbia, S.C. – SMC Pioneer Men and Women's track team competed in the CIU Invitational Saturday in Columbia, S.C.. The race event hosted fourteen college teams in attendance. Freshman Logan Easterlin had a solid overall second place finish in the 1500m event with a time of 4:14. Shawn Hamilton was able to trim some time off his 5K with a 17:45 finish putting him 7th overall. Emmett Kelley wrapped up his open 400m event at :53 seconds.

On the women's side, sophomore Anastasia Kinlaw took fifth place in the 100m with a :12.5 finish time. She later followed up with a 200m time of :26.19.

Post-meet Thoughts

"Just very happy to have kids representing SMC at the track meet. This is just our second track event so we are still a little rusty but confidently on a very good track" says Ken Roach. "Looking forward for next week when we compete at the Terrier Relays in Spartanburg"

The track team will have a short travel to the Terrier Relays in Spartanburg, SC on March 30th.
