SMC Men's and Women's Cross Country Finish Strong at W&M Invite

Smc's cross country teams traveled to Williamsburg, Va this past Saturday to face very strong competition.  After arriving in Williamsburg, SMC stepped off the bus ready to run.  The team needed good performances just to be able to stay in the packs of schools like William and Mary and Christopher Newport who are both ranked in the top 30 in their respected NCAA division.  

Logan Miller once again lead the way for SMC's Men team in the 6k race with a 20:47 finish.  Not far behind was Joel Mercaldo (21:09) and Kole Koterba (21:37).  Also, pushing hard at the finish was Josh Ladson and Patrick Starosto.  The men's team finished in the 5th spot overall just in front of UNC Charlotte and Howard Univ.  

Italia Jones did not hold back with a 27 overall finish with a time of 20:09.   Rounding out the women's team was Andrea Liddell (21:35) and Ali Bennett (21:53).  The women's team also finished in the 5 overall spot nudging Howard Univ and Northern Virginia CC.   Jordyn Gilmore and Hayley Singletary had solid perfromances for the day, also.  

Nex up for the cross country team's is the Louisville Challenge at Louisville Univ. on Sept. 30th.
