Sophmore pitcher and designated hitter, Casey Whitaker (Broome HS) will attend Brevard College for her final two seasons on college and play softball for the Tornadoes and Head Coach Amanda Kamekoma. Coach AK played her college ball at UCLA.
Whitaker, will be relied upon to help lead the Tornado pitching staff and provide power to the middle of their lineup.
Brevard competes in the South Atlantic Conference against nearby colleges such as Newberry, Anderson, Lenoir Ryhne.
"I'm very proud of Casey and happy she has a home for the next two years" said Head Softball Coach Thad Fox. "Helping players that want to continue their career is just as big of a job and responsibility as winning softball games, the more players that get the opportunity to move on to four year schools helps us in the recruiting process." Casey makes the third sophomore to verbal or sign this season and 22 players total".
Whitaker stated she waas excited to have the opportunity to play right away and be a leader for the Tornadoes if needed. "I really enjoyed my time on the campus with the coaches, faculty and staff of the college." I'm not ready to leave yet, but it's exciting to know where I will be going."
