Bre Cuff's two home runs lead Pioneers in win over Sumter

SUMTER,SC:

SMC Softball improved to 19-10 and 4-0 in Region X play with a DH sweep of USC Sumter. The Pioneers pounded out 23 hits on the day including six more homeruns. This gives the Pioneers 26 on the season and 13 in their past four games. In SMC's last six games, they have scored 68 runs, 78 hits, 15 home runs, 16 doubles, 15 stolen bases, 35 innings pitched and 8 runs allowed.

Sumter jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after one but that would be the end of their scoring for game one as Carson O'Donald (Greenville, SC) held the Fire ants in check  with 4 IP, 2 R, 3 H, and 4 K's. Emily Kale (Shelby, NC) worked a scoreless fifth inning. SMC plated two runs in the second inning on a home run by Bre Cuff (Landrum, SC) and singles by Caroline Hill (Inman, SC) and Alex Oliver (Daniel, SC). The Pioneers plated four more runs in the third and fourth innings highlighted by Cuff's second blast of the game and Hill's opposite field bomb.
