Pioneer Softball advances

LOUISBURG, NC- The team that used the power game all year went with the short game to get the offense kick started and advance into Saturday's winners bracket finals against the winner of #1 Pitt CC and #4 Louisburg College.

Freshman centerfielder Kolby Harrison lead off the fourth inning with a bunt single and advanced to third base on sophomore Kelli Shealy's bunt single. Freshman Caroline Hill roped a shot to second to drive in Harrison to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead. Logan Wade followed with a single to center, Bre Cuff (2-2) singled to drive in Hill, Alex Oliver walked to load the bases and Lindsey Auton walked to force in Wade.

Freshman Carson O'Donald improved to 15-1 on the year with five shutout innings, Emily Kale took over in the 6th inning and worked 1.2 innings. Sophomore Taylor Carpenter picked up the save shutting down a Fire Ant seventh inning threat with the tying runners on base.

NOTES: #4 Louisburg College defeated #5 seed USC Salkehatchie 17-0 in game one. Louisburg will sqaure off with #1 Pitt CC at 10:30am. The losers bracket matchup will pitt #3 USC Sumter vs #5 USC Salkehatchie at 1:00pm. SMC will take on the winner of Pitt/Louisburg at 3:30. The winner of that game will advance to Sunday's Championship game at 12:00.
