Softball improves to 17-5 on the season with sweep of Patrick Henry

SPARTANBURG, SC., The Lady Pioneers bats stayed hot on Saturday as SMC swept a double header from Patrick Henry, winning game one 9-0 and game two 22-0. SMC collected 26 hits, four more home runs, three triples, and five doubles. Kaylee Freeman and Teagan Crosby eached toss a one hitter in their starts. 

 

GAME ONE: SMC 9  Patrick Henry 0

Bailey Pearson homered in the first inning and went 3-3 on the day with four runs batted in to power the Pioneers in game one. Maddy Labrador went 2-2 with two runs scored and a triple. Breanna Hagerty hit her fourth home run of the season in the third inning. Kaylee Freeman tossed a one hit shutout and struck out six. She improves to 6-1 on the season and lowered her earned run average to 2.02.

 

GAME TWO: SMC 22  Patrick Henry 0

Freshman Teagan Crosby improved to 3-0 on the year with a one hit shutout in game two. Crosby struck out six and lowered her earned run average to 1.00. The Pioneers scored nine runs in the first and third innings to cruise to a 22-0 win in five innings. This was SMC's eighth run rule win on the year. Morgan Smith went 2-2 (3rbi) with three runs scored and hit her first home run of the season. Lindsey Mason hit her second home run of the year and went 3-5 with three runs scored. Olivia Dunlap went 3-4 with four runs scored, four runs batted in and two triples. Caroline Heaton and Olivia O'Neal added two hits. 

 

SMC will return to the field on Thursday as they host Belmont Abbey College and on Saturday as Gordon State visits Eva S Grant Field.
