Softball drops two at Walters State CC

MORRISTOWN, TN., SMC Softball traveled to Walters State Community College on Wednesday afternooon for a non-region double header. The Senators took both games, ending the Pioneers 28 game win streak by winning game one in the bottom of the seventh 2-1 and game two 5-0. 

Bailey Pearson (10-2) allowed three hits, struck out four, and only allowed one earned run in 6.2 innings of work but took the loss on a misplayed fly ball in the seventh. Maddy Labrador returned to the lineup after missing the last nine games and went 2-2 with a home run and two stolen bases. Leslie Altman and Bailey Pearson each added hits for SMC. 

Kaylee Freeman (6IP, 4ER, 4H)  fell to 12-2 on the season as she took the loss in game two. SMC was shut out for only the second time this season. Breanna Hagerty (2B), Mary Hart, and Pearson had the only hits for the Pioneers. 

 

The Pioneers (35-7, 4-0)will travel to Pitt Community College this weekend for a Region X battle against the 21-4 Bulldogs. Game time is 5:00 and 7:00pm on Saturday and 12:00 and 2:00pm on Sunday.
