Softball Finishes 2nd in Region X Tournament

Sumter, SC

The Lady Pioneers finished their season Sunday, April 29th as Runners-Up in the Region X Tournament. First game of the tournament was against Monroe College out of New York with a final score of 6-1. SMC came out strong making it to the 2nd game of the tournament against #1 seed Louisburg College where they would take their first lose 3-1. In an elimination game, SMC faced USC-Salkahatchie where they would take the win in a hitters duel 15-8. The win against USC-Salkahatchie put the Lady Pioneers in the championship game facing Louisburg once more. SMC showed fight in the championship game as Elizabeth Josey came in the game in the 4th shutting them down to only one run. Emma Williams went 1-3 with a 2 run homerun in the 6th to keep the Pioneers in the game along with Kaleigh MacIntyre who went 2 for 3 and Whittney Purdy who also went 2-3. The Lady Pioneers are ending the season on a good note and will have 10 returning freshman.
