Softball Splits with Walters State

Spartanburg, SC – The lady Pioneers softball team split with Walters State on Wednesday making their record 6-7 overall. In game one, errors beat SMC only allowing 2 earned runs out of the five that Walters State had scored. The Senators held the Pioneers to zero until the 6th inning when two errors were made allowing the 1st two batters on base. The four runs scored were not enough for SMC to come back losing the game 5-4. Game two was a hitter's duel between the two teams. With Walters State ahead 6-5 going into the bottom of the 4th Lauren Reed hit a two run home run to bring the Pioneers ahead 7-6 but the Senators weren't done yet as they rallied back with three more runs. In the 7th innings with a score of 9-9 SMC loaded the bases and won 10-9 with a walk-off walk. Lindsay Jordahl got her 1st save of the year.

The lady Pioneers will be traveling to Florida Friday afternoon to play #2 Chipola College and Gulf Coast state College.
