Bio

Caroline Hill enters her fourth year as the head softball coach with the Pioneers.

This past season, the Lady Pioneers finished 26-25 overall and 11-1 in Region play. They went on to win the Region 10 tournament and compete at District for a chance at going to Nationals. SMC faced Snead State and fell short but put up a strong fight by playing all 3 games in the series. There were several honors and awards taken home in the 2022 season such as Pitcher of the Year, five 1st Team All-Region, three 2nd Team All-Region, and Coach of the Year. Academically, the Pioneers did exceptional in the classroom, with an average GPA for both semesters of 3.4. Eight players were named for NJCAA Academic All-American.

In the 2021 season, the Pioneers finished 17-30 and 5-7 in Region 10 play. Like most other schools, COVID-19 was a big impact on the 2021 season. But despite COVID and other obstacles that the season faced; the Pioneers took several major awards on the year. Five Academic All-Americans, three Second Team All-Region, three First Team All-Region, and Pitcher of the Year.

The 2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19. SMC Softball ended early and was 6-0 in Region play. In 2019, Hill was the assistant coach and stepped in as the interim head coach to help lead the team to Regular Season Champs. The team also saw the Pioneers take home multiple conference awards including Player of the Year, five First Team All-Region, and three Second Team All-Region.

While a student at SMC (2013-2015), Caroline played softball, was a Student Ambassador, and received her Associate of Science degree. She then transferred to Limestone (2015-2017), where she played softball and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management with a coaching minor.

Caroline worked through college at Tyger River Park and the Nike Outlet in Gaffney. After graduating from Limestone, she took a Grad Assistant job at Converse College in the Fall of 2017 until the Spring of 2018. Caroline went back to Tyger River after leaving Converse College and became a Full-Time Maintenance Tech. She then became the assistant at SMC, while continuing her full-time job at Tyger River, along with giving lessons at Strike Zone in Greer and coaching travel ball in the summer (Summer of 2018).

In her time as a collegiate student-athlete at SMC and Limestone, she played in 201 games of her career and finished with impressive marks of a .421 batting average, 267 hits, 164 runs, 65 doubles, 10 triples, 39 home runs, 197 RBIs, and .741 slugging percentage.

While at SMC, Hill played in 96 games with a career batting average of .447, 307 plate visits with 137 hits, and put up 103 RBIs and 84 runs. She hit 20 home runs in her two years and her slugging percentage in her Sophomore year was .941. The 2015 team received a bid to Nationals in St. George, Utah where they finished 8th out of 16 teams.

While at Limestone, in 105 games Hill had a .397 batting average along with 19 home runs, 94 RBIs, 130 hits, 80 runs, 31 doubles, 6 triples, 35 BB, and only 20 strikeouts. Hill helped her 2016 Limestone team win Regular Season for Conference Carolina. In 2017, Limestone was Regionally ranked in the top 8, so they received a bid to compete in Regionals at North Georgia but came up short.
