Lady Pioneers surge to 67-57 win over Lenoir CC

Lady Pioneers surge to 67-57 win over Lenoir CC

Spartanburg, SC

Coming off exam week and looking forward to their semester break the Lady Pioneers(4-8) had a tough Lenoir Community College team standing in their way . The Lancers defeated SMC last week 74-48.

The Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 31-24 halftime lead behind Tori Whittenburg (21 points- 10 rebounds) and Morgan Alexander's (18 points- 12 rebounds) strong play. The duo combined for 20 of the Pioneers 31 first half points.

Lenoir CC would not go away in the second half and took a ten point lead with eight minutes remaining in the game. After a timeout, the Pioneers turned up the defensive pressure and Alexander went to work controlling boards. SMC quickly erased the Lancer lead and turned a ten point deficit into a ten point victory.

Mariah Williams (10 points) poured in eight in the second half and the Pioneers took advantage at the charity stripe going  11-17.
