SPARTANBURG, SC- Playing for the second night in a row the Lady Pioneers started a little slow against the visiting Hurricanes but fought back to only trail 44-34 at the half. Catherine Gillard led the Pioneers with eight points at the break while Rose Robinson and Heather Chapman each chipped in seven points.
The Lady Pioneers (7-10) played the visiting Hurricanes (11-4) even for the entire second half before falling 77-64. Each team shot 32 free throws on the evening, SMC connected on 25-32 while Louisburg hit 24-32
Gillard finished with 15, Robinson and Chapman with 14 each.
SMC will hit the road on Saturday as they travel to Kentucky to square off with the University of Pikeville JV team at 2:00pm
