Chapman leads Lady Pioneers to 57-47 win

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN., The Lady Pioneers improved to 2-1 on the season with their 57-47 road win Thursday night over Milligan College JV's.

Sophomore Heather Chapman (Jackson, OH/Summerville High) led SMC in scoring with 21 points and freshman Americal Jenkins (Hilton Head, SC / Hilton Head High) added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. 

Coach Clark's Lady Pioneers controlled the game from the tip, leading at the half 29-22. The Lady Buffaloes cut the Pioneer lead to five with three minutes to play but solid ball control and late free throw shooting gave SMC their largest lead of the night as the buzzer sounded. 

Jada Martin (Winnsboro, SC / Fairfield Central) chipped in 10 points and 5 assists, Shaniqua Brown (Greenville, SC / Hillcrest High) added 9 points and 7 rebounds. Yazmeen Young (Greenville, SC / Greenville High) pulled down 8 rebounds.

The Lady Pioneers return to action on Monday at 5:30pm as they host Walters State Community College (2-0). Tip-off is set for 5:30pm for the women and 7:30pm for the men.
