SMC Women's Basketball moves into first place tie with 70-67 win over Clinton

CLINTON, SC., The Lady Pioneers got another huge road win Tuesday night to stay in the race for the top spot in Region X play. SMC (9-10) took down Clinton Junior College 70-67 and now sits in a three way tie with Clinton and Denmark Tech with two more region games remaining. 

Jada Martin paced the Pioneers with 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Americal Jenkins added 17 points and 12 rebounds while Heather Chapman dropped 15 points and pulled down 10 boards. Briana Hill had a solid night with eight points, 11 assists and five rebounds. 

The Pioneers were down 13 (38-25) at the half but outscored Clinton 21-12 in the third period and 21-15 in the fourth to secure the win. 

SMC will hit the road on Friday for a trip to Chattanooga State Community College but return to Bridges Arena next Wednesday for a pivitol game against Denmark Tech.

SMC will host the Region X Women's Basketball Tournament this year on February 26th and 27th.
